I have been running competitively since I was in elementary school. I love the thrill and strategy of racing against the clock and other runners. I am a hard worker with all that I do - in school, personal life, and running. My goal right now is to get below 5:00 minutes for the 1600m. Another goal of mine is to race well enough to make it to Nike Nationals Cross Country meet. My whole family runs, so it is great to have a common sport and a support system.
I am an active member of my church and attend Bible study on a weekly basis. Every summer I go on a mission trip with my church to serve others. I have learned so much about serving the less fortunate through trips to serve the homeless, poor, elderly, and special needs individuals. This has shaped who I am and how I perceive others.
Academically, I want to pursue a career in the medical field that helps others to regain their physical abilities - like learning how to walk again or even run! Since I love children, I want to especially help children.
Running has given me confidence and strength in my personal life. When others teased me when I was short (junior high), I proved myself on the track by winning first place in the district in the mile and 1.5 mile! I have been a fierce competitor ever since.
