Personal Statement

I have just began my senior year at Goldthwaite High School and am fortunate enough to have a very dedicated and supportive family to inspire me and help me to reach the goals I have set for myself. It has always been my dream to compete at the state level all four years in high school and continue competing in college track and field. During my freshman season, I was fortunate enough to have excellent coaching and teammates who had the same desire as I did, to do our very best and reap the rewards from hard work which we did. Knowing it not only takes ability but also hard work, both in the classroom and on the competitive fields as well, in order to achieve these goals is what has been instilled. This is what I have learned from my family, teammates, and coaches. Each game of basketball, each meet in cross country, each tournament in golf, and each track and field meet have expanded my competitive spirit and have made me more and more dedicated to my dream. Determination - that is what I had last year, what I have again this year, and what I will continue to have in the years ahead. I have been to The Texas State Cross County Meet my freshman year, The Texas State Track and Field Meet my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, and The Texas State Golf Tournament my sophomore year. My first love is Track and Field, but being involved in a small school usually means you not only compete in one sport but many. That has helped me to learn to organize my time between academics and athletics and I believe I have been able to do just that, being inducted into The National Honor Society last year.  I would love the opportunity to speak with anyone who feels I can be an asset to their track and field program, and I can assure any coach that I will continue to strive to do my very best.

 Thank you, Hayley Wilson
