Megan Fitzgerald '18 Recruiting Profile

I am dedicated to athletics, and I desire to go to a college that will be a great academic and athletic fit for me. Stability in academics and athletics is very important to me. Spending eleven years of my life in competitive gymnastics has humbled me and made me very strong both mentally and physically. Athletics in general has made me very mentally strong and mature. After deciding that gymnastics was not the sport I wanted to do, I chose pole vault because I wanted to try something that was out of the ordinary and that would challenge me. Now that I have been pole vaulting for three years, I have quickly found out that this sport is the perfect fit for me, and it pushes me each day to strive for more. Even if I have a bad day, I will always know how to get on my feet again and keep pushing myself. I have been titled State Champion for two years, and I am working each year to keep this title throughout my whole high school career. I also aspire to have a national title. Currently, my personal best is 12 feet 8 inches, and I am competing against myself each competition to break my own record. I am thrilled to have almost two more years to take advantage of the great competition opportunities I have been given. Aside from athletics, I am in the National French Honors Society, (Société Honoraire de Français), was an Honors student from 2014-2015 at Parish Episcopal School, and I was the 2014-2015 Track and Field Newcomer of the Year. I am currently striving for the best in every area of my life, and I am especially putting in time and effort into my athletics and academics to become a great asset to my future college.
