Sanjuanita Martinez '12 Recruiting Profile

Well my name is Sanjuanita Martinez, many people call me Sam. I am 5'2" and weigh 112. My best athletic skill is running. I have been running for five years now and I really enjoy it. My freshman year our varsity team won District Champs Runner-Up and I did quite well earning 6th place individually. In sports and in school I am a hard worker and never settle for the least. I have had some difficult times where I have gotten injured but I don't believe in quitting, I simply keep my head up and work harder to make sure I am always up to par. I have a good relationship with my coaches for they know that I accept criticism for it will make me better. I know that for the team to go on, we must act as a team. My dream has not always been running in college but to simply continue my education. I want to be able to set a better future for myself and if running can help me achieve that The perfect college for me would be a Christian or Catholic college that offers a Pre-Law program and has a strongly encourages academics. If possible I'd like to attend a college that has warm seasons all year long. Distance really isn't a factor for I'd like to get out and travel the world. The only issue to stand in the way of me attending college would be money. My father is the sole supporter of his wife and three children. He works very hard to give us the lifestyle he wants and for me that is enough. This past summer of 2010 things got a little difficult. He got fired from his job and we were forced to move and he needed to find a new job soon. Thank goodness that I had decided to get a job this summer for we were going to need the money. So even after the ordeals our family has been through we remain as strong and united as ever. God, family and friends are the most important things in my life. My running goals for college are simple. I'd like to run for a coach who wants doesn't neccesarily need to win, but wants to win. A coach who is willing to work one on one to help his athletes out and isn't afraid to speak his mind.
