Ashley Pryke '15 Recruiting Profile

Both school and sport have always been passions in my life. I Have maintained a GPA of over 90% every year of my high school career and excel in both math and sciences achieving a 94% in both chemistry and functions in grade 11. I am extremely determined to succeed and am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve greatness in both my school and sport.  This determination was seen this year, my first year of throwing the javelin, as I was able to win a national championship. I started out this year throwing around 110.9 feet and by the end of the season I had progressed to throwing 146.4 feet setting a provincial meet record. This progression was due to my desire to succeed and of course my amazing coach. I worked everyday to try and improve my speed, agility, and technique so that I could make up for starting into the wonderful sport of javelin so late. I also competed in some meets at the junior level and was quite successful as I placed third i one of them, only to the junior national champion and a second year junior now on scholarship at Stanford University. After winning every sanctioned youth meet I have competed in this year I am pleased to say I have fallen in love with the sport and want to do whatever it takes to get to the next level. Although school and sport are both a huge part of my life I also enjoy helping others and improving my community. This is displayed as for the past two years i have worked with mentally and physically challenged students to help them feel welcome and safe at our high school.
