Personal Statement

I am a dedicated runner and would like to find a program that pushes me to be the best runner I can be. What separates me from other runners is my passion for the sport. I work harder than my competitors and do not complain about it. I live for practice and competition. It doesn't matter if it's boiling hot or freezing cold, I will be out there putting in the work that most people do not even consider doing. I also do research on my competitors so I know how they are running. No matter how hard or how easy the workout may be, I will do it and I will finish it. I am a leader on my high school team. I encourage the team to work hard and push themselves because by working together we all get better.

I am looking for a college program were I can be a significant contributor but that will provide the tools to help me reach my potential as a runner in a setting where I can also further my academic goals. I plan to major in Parks, Recreation and Tourism management. I believe that I can take my passion for running and my love of being outdoors and develop a career when I can engage and encourage others to develop that same passion.

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. I have taken honors classes in English (I, II and III so far), History (World, Civics and US), Science (Biology). At first these classes were challenging, but as I take more I am finding that my skills have grown and I am improving the quality of my academic performance, moving from a solid B honors student to an A student in recent honors classes. Next semester I take an honors Art class. Very much looking forward to that. I have not taken any AP classes, at my school they are just not a good fit for me. To compensate for that, I have challenged myself to complete my high school math requirements by the end of my junior year and I will be taking college math at the local Community College my senior year. I am also enrolled in a high school study abroad program for Summer 2017. I will be studying Irish history in Ireland and should receive 3 hours of college credit for that.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
No
Registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center?
Yes

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
