Personal Statement

I have had numerous athletic achievements during my high school career that I hope would catch the eye of college coaches.

·         I have received national recognition at the AAU Junior Olympic Games for finishing 3rd in the 3000m and 13th in the 1500m on 7/28/2012 the summer after my 10th grade year.

·         I received national recognition at the AAU National Cross Country Championships, where I finished 3rd on 12/1/2012.

I have a cross-country 5000m PR of 18:17:59 at the NCHSAA 2A Midwest Regional on 10/26/2013.

·         I have a track 5000m PR of 18:05:80 at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals on 6/24/2013.

·         I have a 2 mile PR of 11:12:28 at the NCHSAA 2A State Championship, setting a new state record by 6 seconds and beating the second place finisher by 22 seconds on 5/17/2013.

·         I have been the Cross Country Runner of the Year for the Central Carolina Conference all 4 years of high school, along with Track and Field Runner of the Year.

·         I have been the Davidson County Runner of the Year all 4 years of high school.

·         I have been All-Conference and All-Region in both cross country and track all 4 years of high school, winning the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m run at the Midwest Regional on 5/11/2013.

·         I have been President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club at West Davidson High School all 4 years of my schooling.

·         I am currently the female North Carolina Wendy’s Heisman winner (and still in the running for National Winner).

I would like further my development as a student.  I enjoy digging into something deep to work towards the discovery of a result.  I don't mind hard work, whether mental or physical.  I am at the top of my class with a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.88 weighted, which required lots of work and I'm ok with that as long as it results in more knowledge and how I might apply that to improve ourselves and others. I love the academic challenge associated with the AP classes and look forward to the challenges that await me in college.

I am keenly interested in the medical field, especially as it relates to Biology.

I enjoy sports and physical activity, of late that has mostly been long distance running in cross country and track, although I have also played soccer most of my life at the classic and high school level. I would love to run cross country as well as indoor/outdoor track in college.

I have participated in international mission trips as well as many local and statewide endeavors. I would like to continue in this work.  I truly want to help any team that  I become a part of at the collegiate level, focusing on my personal development as a runner and the team's development as a whole.
