I have been running since I was a child with my mother who is a track and cross country coach. It is important to me that I continue to run in my later life because running has sculpted me into the person I am today. Eight mile runs at the end of a school day have taught me discipline. Competing against the clock and other runners has taught me to never give up. Being a student athlete since 8th grade and maintaining a training schedule of 50-60 miles a week, with AP classes, has taught me time management.
I have been the captain of both the cross country and track teams at my high school since sophomore year. I have also been on these varsity teams since middle school. I have received female MVP award in both cross country and track as well as All-Conference in cross country (my sophomore year) and All-State in track (through the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade). I want to be a trauma surgeon in the military. I plan on attending medical school after my undergraduate years. I know that I have more to learn through running and I am intent on continuing my running career in college.
