Personal Statement

My ambition is to reach the highest level of education I can attain. My goal is to leave a mark in this World because it’s my belief we should leave this World better than we found it .Leaving a mark in the World could mean, the monumental task of getting a cure for Cancer or just making sure that someone somewhere did not sleep hungry because I made sure they had some dinner. So hopefully I will attain both levels.

My story as a team player is an interesting one. I say this because I have had to adjust in less than 3 years to be part of my community in West Deptford . My family emigrated from Kenya to the US in 2013 and before I could learn my way around I found myself in a class where everything was new to me. I had my fears about fitting in but because of my personality and effort to understand my new surroundings I now feel like I forever belonged here, team spirit is what has gotten me where I am .

I never take anything for granted knowing the opportunities that have been availed to me and especially when I think -what if I was attending a high school in Kenya- where the facilities are not widely available. I have taken all advice given to me by coaches so as to be the best I can be on the track. With this advice I have seen myself get better at each race I have participated. The greatest achievement for me so far being the 400 m Champion of Gloucester County in South Jersey .  My coaches have faith in me and that propels me to do the best that I can.

I have continued to excel in my academics granted that I came from a very different kind of a schooling system, with different spelling of some words and grading system, I have had to pay extra attention to my teachers. I am still a work in progress in so many aspects but I am taking it in stride.I am working hard to do even better than I am currently doing. I work very hard to maintain my GPA. I am positive that given a chance I will be a success story both in and out of class.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
