Maggie Kaplan '16 Recruiting Profile

I have been a dedicated athlete practically my entire life.  I started in gymnastics at around 3 years of age.  I competed as a member of USA gymnastics from level 4 - 8. I have earned Varsity status at South Brunswick High School for two sports, as a Freshman, Gymnastics and as a Sophomore, Track Pole Vault.  As a freshman in high school, pole vaulting caught my interest and I started during spring track season. A total novice,  I have been addicted to pole vaulting ever since.  So much so that this last summer I started taking lessons at Apex Vault a private club to further improve my skills. While I have hit a PR of 9'6"  I do not intend to stop there for this season.  I am focused and determined to increase the height and with the coach's guidance and my personal perseverance, I have no doubt I will exceed my goal.  To me, the hard work and dedication is not only personal, but equally and probably more so to support a team.  I respect and admire my present PV squad.  I take special pride in building team camaraderie as in order to win, the team needs the mental and physical support of every member of the squad.  

My aspiration is to study Forensic Science and to explore various options in this field, such as criminal justice.. As much as I want to further my education while in college, I could not imagine my life without being part of a team.  I hope to compete at the college level in Pole Vaulting and to contribute to the team in the best way possible.
