Athletic Goals: participate at highest competition level, play all four years in college, meet new people, continue improving personal time record, gain opportunities, challenge myself. The start of my running career was not fully my own doing, but without it in my life, I wouldn't be the person I am today. It started off as a way to stay in-shape through the awkward pre-teen years which progressed to casually running on my middle school team and now this sport takes up most of my life, energy and passion. The highlight of my year is when Cross Country Season rolls around. Almost everything about this sport bring me happiness and validates the rest of my years work. Being on a team with only two other girls has brought us together, we're practically sisters who share two common goals with each other; qualifying for the State Championship Race and continuing our running careers through college. I realized these two goals my freshman year and strive to do everything in my power to accomplish these goals. Throughout my years running I have come to realize not only the physical but mental stamina this sport requires to be successful. Without the mind-set of a winner there is little chance of becomming a winner. This year has been the hardest year of my running career although I put everything I possibly could have into every race and workout I participate in. My mindset was that of a winner in my district race and it didn't turn out to be enough to qualify for the State Championship this year unlike the last previous two. This race helped me grow as an individual and realize although you may be giving 110% there's always more you can do and more to improve. My goal as I continue on the path of running is to continue improving everyday I put my running shoes on and hit the pavement. I never want to feel like I wasn't giving it everything I had. Finishing my running career strong in high school and continuing it in college is my main focus right now and its what I will be focused on for the next five years of my life.
