Competing at state my first year of doing track was an amazing opportunity to be given. The beginning of the season I thought it would be very unrealistic to make it to state, but as the season went on, I kept breaking my PR’s. After each race, I felt like I still had more energy to give. At regionals, I qualified for state and realized that despite all the negative voices in my head, that I can do this. There were lots of voices from the beginning telling me I was slow, that my leg hurt too much to continue, that there are people who are always going to be better. I had two choices, I could let these voices knock me down, or I could use them to make me faster. The race doesn’t begin when the gun goes off or end as the finish line is crossed; it begins with the daily practice and preparing correctly for each race. The time from when the gun goes off until the finish line is crossed is just the part that shows how well you have trained and how you race. Each practice should be taken just as serious as a race and given every effort. This is the same mentality I have towards school too. School comes first and tests aren’t the only area you should try to get high marks, the classwork, the discussions, the homework should also be done and try to get good grades on it. There are days where always giving one hundred percent of my mind and body to complete the tasks that day holds is very difficult and I know that some days I will fail, but that does not mean I shouldn't try again the next day. I am a hard worker and a dedicated teammate. I love being active and bonding with others through a similar love. There have been hardships in my life which I have had to overcome, but they only make me stronger and more aware of what matters. I try to be the best me and that is all that I can offer.
