Josie Yesmunt '14 Recruiting Profile

My passion is to run. I run the 60m/100m, 200m, 400m, and relays.  I am captain of my varsity track team.  I am a hardworker and will get the job done. My goal was to achieve new PRs in all areas in my running this season.  I have set multiple PRs in the 60m, 100m, and 200m this year. My dream is to be able to continue my passion of running while pursuing higher education.  I am a leader on the track and in the classroom.  I suffered a concussion and other injuries just before entering high school in the summer of 2010 when I was involved in a motor vehicle/bicycle accident.  When entering high school I had to quickly adjust to juggling academics, multiple therapies and doctor appointments, and to remain competitive in athletics.   Overcoming a concussion made me persevere even harder to become stronger than my competitors.  I survived this experience and still I excelled athletically, academically,and socially.  The first year of recovery my basketball coach selected me for the 101% award, and I received the outstanding freshman award by my track coach and MVP award.  I have also completed the Teen Dale Carnegie Institute.  These experiences have helped me to develop spiritually with increased passion for life and to become an encouraging leader.  I understand that life can be taken away and how important it is to enjoy the moment.  I recently set a new personal record with becoming  the 100 meter 2013 Division II State Champion with a time of 12.18.  I am looking forward to becoming a scoring member of a strong collegiate track team.
