I started running track in 5th grade just for fun and it has evolved from an extra after school activity to a passion that helps define who I am and who I will be. Since my first season on my high school team, I have been completely dedicated to the sport and my team. I set goals and drive myself and my team to reach them no matter how difficult of a challenge the goal may be. It has become clear that setting an example of dedication and hard work at practice and the competition field is the best form of leadership. Equally rewarding to winning or beating your self against the clock is being there to support your team mates and seeing their success.
Freshman year, I aspired to compete at New Balance Nationals by senior year; I competed for the first time at NB Nationals that year only a month later with fellow upperclassmen on two relays and returned this year as a sophomore. Sophomore year, I aspired to break a record by senior year; My relay team and I broke the 4x100m record in the spring season. Regardless of the goal, I push myself to succeed in order to be my best and I support my teammates to reach their potential. I have found that establishing smart stretch goals and managing my activities around attaining those goals has enabled me to progress throughout the season.
