Personal Statement

I am a 5'2" senior from Foxboro, Massachusetts. I have taken part in six seasons of track so far; three indoor and three outdoor. I started my freshman year running strictly the one mile, but for the past few seasons I have focused primarily on the two-mile. I have participated in a few freshmen/sophomore meets and have been invited to several Coach's Invitationals as well. I have also taken part in the state relays running the 1600 leg of the distance medley relay. This school year, I am playing varsity soccer in the fall and am co-captain this season. I ran the mile/two mile last winter and I will be doing the same this coming winter and spring. I am focused and determined and can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I have set goals to lower my two mile time down to 11:55.00, to break the twelve minute mark. Also, lowering my mile time to 5:25.00 would be a great accomplishment. Family consumes a good amount of my free time. I am a daughter and a sister in my family of four, and spending time together is important. I volunteer for community service events through school and the Rotary Interact Club. Volunteering in my community is a way of giving back. I love to work with children when I volunteer at the Hockomock Area YMCA. I feel that I am a very generous, kind, respectful, and helpful person and I try to put someone else's needs before mine. It is important to me to stay active and fit. Doing something I enjoy, like track and soccer, keeps me in shape year round. Good grades are an imperative. I am an honors student and put one hundred percent effort into my homework assignments, projects, and studying for tests. I was inducted into the National Honor Society at my school last year and I am one of the two secretaries this year. My friends say I have a chaotic schedule, but I feel it is all worth it in the end. I would much rather spend my time busy, being with my family, and focusing on school work than not having anything to focus on. I would like to attend a medium or large sized school to pursue Biology and perhaps go on to medical or dental school. It does not necessarily matter where the school is as long as I get a great education. The division does not impact my choice of school, but the quality of education does. I would love to play sports in college because they play a huge role in my life. Running track as a freshman in college is very important to me.
