I am an extremely devoted athlete and a dedicated team player who has just started doing track this year, my junior year. However, I have been a starting player on varsity soccer, and am soccer captain, and am captain of the winter and spring track team as well. In my first winter season I ran the 300 in 42.65 seconds, and ran a split time in the 4x200, as the anchor, of 26.2. For the first four meets I PR'd by nearly a second every meet in the 300. I finished with the league's third fastest time and finished ninth overall in the D4 state meet, and the relay team got second in the D4 meet and also went to all-states. After having a lot of success and as I started to really enjoy track, I decided to quit softball to do spring track. I PR'd for the first three meets and my best time of the season was 60.2, was named a Hockomock league all-star, seventh in the D3 state meet, and third in the league. I have finally found a sport that allows me to show my athletic abilities without any other attributes interfering with the competition. With any other sport, speed and endurance is just as important as your skill level, or experience with the game itself. However, track is a competition that tests your speed and mental toughness, and at the end of the day the better runner will almost always win. I want to be that better runner, the one that is unbeatable because she works harder than any of her competitors and is a better athlete all around. Although I am new to this sport, I hope to have a lot of success this season and hopefully a future that includes college track. I had always hoped to play a sport in college, but none of the sports I played really clicked for me until I started track. I know that since it is my first year I have so much potential for the middle distance races, especially because I am willing to do whatever it takes to reach goals that I set for myself. I am focused and disciplined when it comes to training, and have planned a strict workout regimen for the summer to prepare myself to do even better next year.
