Running has shaped who I am and who I want to be. I was introduced to it in elementary school, as part of a local town race series, and I have always loved racing since then. The challenges that running presents me with, both mentally and physically, help me to become the best person I can be, both in racing and in all other facets of my life. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to continue running at the collegiate level.
Racing has always had a special place in my heart. It is a test of physical capability and desire to win. My tenacity, coupled with my finishing kick, make me a valuable member of relay teams and a great competitor in races. I am always striving to become the best runner I can possibly be, and as a result I am very coachable and train hard and smart all year-round with my goals in mind. I am a team leader, always encouraging my teammates to be the best that they can possibly be and cheering every single runner on to the finish. I believe that running is one of the most team-oriented sports there is; your teammates have placed their trust in you do the very best that you can, and vice versa. Running is extremely rewarding because you get out the work that you put in. I am a strong believer in this mentality, and I apply it to all areas of my life.
I have always had a love for learning. I am a hard-working student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and challenging myself by taking as many honors and AP classes as I can. I am the Secretary General (the equivalent to other clubs' position of president) of my high school's Model United Nations club. Participating in Model UN allows me to pursue my passion for international relations and debate with other ambitious individuals from around the country and the world. I am also involved in my class, serving on the prom committee and helping organize class fundraisers. This fall, I have been instrumental in helping design and purchase new uniforms for my school's track and cross-country teams.
I am searching for a college that encourages academic and athletic excellence, challenging students to change the world and themselves for the better. I want to be a part of a community of motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and helping others, one where I can compete and learn to my highest potential.
