Personal Statement

To be honest, I never thought I would say that Track & Field was “my sport.”    Probably, because ever since I was 5 years old, I pretty much lived on a soccer field.   As I entered middle school however, I realized what truly differentiated me on the soccer field was my speed.  As such, I started to expand my attention to include the sport that matched my inner passion even more.  By the time I reached high school, I knew that my dreams centered on Track & Field.
However, regardless of the sport I was participating in, I was always up for a challenge.  For example, when I was 7 years old, I was asked to play on an all boys’ soccer team.  While this definitely was tougher competition, I welcomed the opportunity to challenge myself and actively contributed to this team for 4 years.   Similarly, during my freshman year of running track, our girls’ team had very few participants in field events.   While I had always thought of myself as a runner, I volunteered to try both high jump and triple jump.   As I put in the hard work to progress in each event, I became an even more diversified competitor and was able to dramatically impact our overall team results.
I believe the intense discipline from playing on a highly competitive club soccer team for 8 years helped me appreciate various coaching styles, different ways to approach competition and the true importance of teamwork.   This exposure and training I had from a very early age provided the foundation for me to become the diverse track & field competitor that I am today.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
