Lauren Torsch '14 Recruiting Profile

I have just completed my junior year at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. I began pole vaulting my freshman year, and have made steady improvements throughout high school.  I jumped 9’6” my freshman year, 10’6” my sophomore year, and 11’1” my junior year, setting the school record. I competed in the 5A state meet for pole vault my freshman and junior year, both placing third. For the past three years, I have run as a varsity member in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays. The 4x400 also qualified for state my sophomore and junior year. I was named Junior Varsity MVP my freshman and sophomore year, and Varsity MVP my junior year. I was also presented with the Outstanding Spring Athlete Award this past year which is given to a varsity athlete who has displayed outstanding athletic ability while serving as an inspiration to her teammates and a model of good sportsmanship.

Outside of school, I practice year-round with my private pole vault coach, Doug Fraley. I practice about five days a week while managing my honors and AP courses during the school year. During the past few summers, I have participated in several AAU meets such as the Governor’s Games, AAU Qualifiers, and AAU Junior Olympics 2012. I would like to attend a college in the fall of 2014 where I would continue to improve in pole vaulting and have a relationship with my teammates and coaches.
