Rheagan Ortego '17 Recruiting Profile

Hi, 

Im Rheagan Ortego from Basile, Louisiana, a small country town north of I-10 between Lake Charles and Lafayette. I am a Senior at Basile High school where I represent my class of 2017 as their Class President. I am also a part of the FBLA club where I am their Secretary and the BETA club where I am their Vice President. I am currently running for Student Council President. At Basile High, I've worked hard to receive a 3.8 GPA, to score a 23 on ACT, and to be ranked top 3 in my graduating class of 2017. I am also representing the Lake Charles Chapter of CFMA as their 2016 Miss Cajun Music Queen. I've been running for as long as I can remember. Running is my time to let loose and forget about reality. I've been a part of my high school track team since the 8th grade. I was asked by the high school coach to run for her, and as a 13 year old, I thought that was pretty awesome! I would love to take my athleticism to a whole other level and run for a college team! I feel I have the heart and dedication to make a difference on a higher level team. In my high school years so far, I've accomplished many things in my track career.  I've been parish champ for 3 years in a row in the 100M Dash. Sadly last year that meet was cancelled so wasn't able to get that 4th year down. I've been named the Most Outstanding Female Athlete in track for the past four years out of my high school. My sophomore year, I brought my 4x1 team from 6th place to 2nd place which led us to go to regionals. My junior year I brought my 4x1 team from last place to 1st, winning District Champs. The same year we won District Champs in the 4x2. My individual event is the 100M Dash, of course! My fastest time in that was a 12.5. I've been coming out of the blocks in the event since 7th grade. Each year I get better and better. I still have flaws coming out of the blocks but I work hard to fix them. It is my dream to run for a college team!  And I will do anything to make that dream happen! Feel free to contact me, I'm always up for meeting new people and Im always up for change!
