Personal Statement

My name is Kennedy Berkley. I am going to be a Senior at Campbell County High school located in Alexandria, Kentucky where I have lettered as a three sport varsity scholar athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track. I am 5'11 inches and weigh 140 pounds. I have recently been selected as a 2011 Sportswoman of the Year Nominee.Track statistics include qualifying times for the 2011 3A State Championships in 100 m hurdles (16.06), TJ (35'1.5"), 4x200(1:43:19), HJ (5'0), and have been approached as a potential heptathlon participant.I have also run in the 300 hurdles. My team won state last year and was runner up in 2009. We look forward to yet another state championship this spring where I have set my goals to be in the top five for both the 100m hurdles and TJ. My high school career has been successful and filled with numerous honors, awards and publicity throughout my district, region, and state. Aside from track honors of MVP Team Jumper and Regional Honorable Mention, I was also named to both the district and regional tourney teams for volleyball and basketball this year, as well as 2nd team All Northern Kentucky Conference voted and first team All-Region. I look forward to future opportunities for high achievements during my junior year of track and senior year of both volleyball and basketball. Although an underclassmen, I am often complimented on my hard work ethic and desire to be the best that I can be. My coaches rely on me to be a leader and I accept this challenge with pride not onnly to my Varisty teammates, but the JV and freshmen teams as well. I follow the "LEAD by EXAMPLE" motto and feel that sports provide limitless opportunities both on and off the court. My participation as a mentor coach in the youth volleyball, basketball, and track programs has given me this priviledge. I have learned to focus, commit, discipline, and prioritize to juggle the academic, social, and physical pieces that make a complete scholar athlete who wants to play at the next level. Ideally, I want to earn a scholarship and find a college that fits me where I can actively compete and help my team be successful. My expertise should be what they need. I have been approached as a possible Heptahalon and of course know that I have the ability to grow in my current events and others with the support of college coaching. I am open minded to finding the right fit, but would prefer to stay within about six hours of my hometown. Colleges in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and West Virginia would all be great but should not be seen as limiting. At this time, I am thinking about pharmacy or the ability to be invloved in the medical field helping athletes but again have an open mind. Overall, I am a dedicated student athlete who has worked hard to become accomplished at the high school level and earned the respect of my coaches teammates, and fans. I want to leave a legacy at CCHS and move forward to reach my goals at the college level. I will give a 110% and beleive that I will be an assest to any team.
