Personal Statement

I am in my Senior year of High School.  I have aspirations to become a part of a competitive Women's track and field program at a prestigious College/University.   UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPETE AT A VARSITY LEVEL DUE TO ELGIBILITY ISSUES.

In college, my dream is to be able to compete on a level suitable to my abilities and to also have fun with what I'm doing. My ideal college/university running program would push me to my limits and help me to improve, but still be manageable at the same time. I have Olympic aspirations and I want my dream college/university to help me to make this aspiration become a reality.  Most importantly, the college/university I attend will have a great academic program to guide me beyond track & field.

  • Took 5th overall in 55m, ran 7.50. Took 10th overall in 200m at 27.70 (not happy with this time, as I evaluate my error, i did not get enough rest after running the 4x200). Ran 3rd leg instead of 2nd in 4x200. Had a lot of ground to make up due to bad hand off from 1st and 2nd leg.
  • Camp/Event
  • Munster/Morton Meet
  • 3/13/15 to 3/13/15
  • First HS indoor practice meet- Ran 50m Dash @ 6.85(HT); 4x200 (2nd leg); 200m Dash 28.69(HT); 4x400 (1st leg)

  • USATF Indoor Zone Championship
  • 1/24/15 to 1/25/15
  • Ran 55m at 7.54 pre-lim; 4x200 at 1:49 (anchor leg and the gazelle came our) this is a PR for our relay team. My split was 26.71. 55m final 7.93 (I know, this is from not refueling with food); 200m (to embarrassed to post time). By this event my body was shutting down and I waited to long to refuel and my muscles tightened up really bad.
  • Camp/Event
  • Fort Wayne Invitational
  • 1/03/15 to 1/03/15
  • Camp/Event
  • Gazelle Sports High School/MITS Meets
  • 12/06/14 to 12/06/14
  • Ran 60m at a time of 8.23 (not good). Goal is to run this event at 7.9 next meet. Overall goal is to run this race at 7.5 by end of season. I did not come out the blocks powerful enough and I ran it wrong. My mom said I ran it like the 100 and I should not have. I did not come up quick enough. Ran the 4x200 relay we clocked a time of 1:55. I ran the 2nd leg and feel I ran my portion really well and was able to give us a great lead, however, our hand offs were not good. I'm comfortable at 2nd, 3rd and 4th leg. I think I am going to ask for the 4th leg next meet.
