Hey my name is Kara Coulter and I would like to introduce myself! I am a senior at Roswell High School in Roswell GA. I started my “running career” sophomore year when my friend asked me to join cross country and to my surprise, I ended up making varsity and discovering my passion for running. I was named “newcomer of the year” at the end of my first season and loved it so much I joined track in the spring instead of lacrosse. I’ve been on varsity for both cross country and track ever since and was named captain of the cross country team going into my senior year season. Throughout my career, I’ve made some notable accomplishments including coming 6th at Footlocker South Regional in the Junior Girls race, 4th at Region 5AAAAAA Cross Country Championships, and 26th in GHSA State Meet for AAAAAA. My second year of cross country I dropped more than a minute off my time, winning the “Most Improved” award and I plan on continuing to improve my time as my running career progresses.
In addition to running, I am a hardworking student and take my education very seriously. I take multiple AP and honors classes and still manage to balance my academics, athletics and social life. I am also involved in multiple extracurricular activities including National Honors Society, Vice President for Anchor Club, Monthly Mission, and FCA. I go to Fellowship Bible Church and am in multiple leadership positions there including being on Student Leadership, helping out in children’s ministry and co-leading a 6th grade girls small group every Sunday morning. One of the things that has shaped me into the person I am today is my summer mission trips to Guatemala ever since middle school. I absolutely love being able to go down there to serve and love on the people of Guatemala who desperately need hope.
Running to me is more than just a sport or a race, and it’s taught me to keep on pushing on even when times get tough and you think you can’t make it anymore. It’s what I truly love to do and I hope to find the perfect college that will allow me to not only continue my education, but also my running career.
