My philosophy about running track in college is simple: "I run track to go to school, I don't go to school to run track". What I mean by this statement: it is important to me to work with a coaching staff that pushes their athletes to be the best they can be both on and off the field. My academic goal is to be a neonatologist and major in biology while in undergraduate school. My athletic goal is to be a part of a Track Program where I can contribute to the success of the team while enhancing my personal athletic ability. Prior to starting high school, I had to choose between cheerleading, basketball, and track. My coaches informed me that because of my dedication, hard work, competitive nature, and leadership skills, I could succeed at any of these sports. These characteristics helped me reach my goals in the past and make me a good candidate for any coach’s team, whether that is DI, DII, DIII, or NAIA. I chose track because I felt like it was more likely that my skills could be improved to meet college level requirements in this sport versus the others.
