Pole vault has always been something that seemed to fit my background. Leaving gymnastics after 12 years of hard work, not to mention achieving Level 9, I was looking for a sport that would help highlight my strengths. Stumbling upon pole vault proved to be one of the best things to happen to me, as I soon learned how much I loved the sport. Being a gymnast for so long helped drill skills such as air-awareness, agility, and bodily control into my movements; this helped pole vault come naturally for me. Pole vault continually astounds and interests me and I really enjoy it.
College athletes are the role-models of many people in our world today. As a college athlete, I wish to further accentuate this ideal; I feel as if it is important to set the precedent for the younger generations to come. I aspire to uphold the characteristics of responsibility, perseverance, and the strong tenacity to be the very best I can be personally. While being a college athlete requires the utmost mental and physical toughness, I plan to tackle any challenges that come with being a college athlete head-on.
Throughout my academic career, I have always maintained high grades. While I understand this will facilitate my entering into college, I also have intrinsic motivation that fuels my will to push myself academically. Education is something that will help me in every aspect of my life, whether it be sports, getting a job later in life, or every day social interactions. I feel that education has helped to give me a strong head on my shoulders so that I may not be skewed by the things that claim the futures of so many teens in this day and age.
Along with my grades, I find myself to arise as a leader in situations that demand one. I'm an attentive and persistent worker when I am put to something, and I like to see things through to the finish. I am my own person and my own voice, and I am ultimately responsible for my future.
To choose me as a candidate for your team would be choosing someone who you know has the determination and skills necessary to help carry the weight of your team. It would be choosing someone who has a natural born sense of leadership. It would be choosing someone who will do everything in her power to contribute her absolute best to your team and to your school.
