I would like to be a scorer on my future collegiate team and eventually move into a leadership role. I have learned from my past teammates how to be a leader, and I hope to be a major contributor to any team that I am a member of. Also, continued progress is very important to me. I hope to improve with each passing year, as I don’t see much good in settling for a time I’ve already achieved.
I work extremely hard in all that I do and I always strive to achieve more than what is expected of me. I have always excelled in school, and I have never let athletics detract from my studies. I hold very high standards for myself and work hard to reach my goals. My values have been instilled in me by my family, and much of the credit goes to my coaches. They have helped me to develop into the athlete and person that I am today. I have strong relationships with both of them and I trust their guidance and training fully.
I stand out from other recruits through my drive and dedication. I know that it takes going above and beyond to accomplish anything worthwhile. When I joined the cross country team as a freshman, I instantly knew that I had found my niche. I felt at home on the track and in the trails, and I was hooked from day one. Goal setting is a force of habit, and I’ve found that setting small, achievable goals for each workout and each race works best for me. I set simple goals for the task at hand, and always keep the long term goal in the back of my mind to drive me when it’s difficult to persevere.
