Sophomore year was my first year ever running and I fell in love with the sport after going out for summer conditioning. At the start of my first cross country season I encountered an injury and was out for the first 5 weeks of the season. While I was out, I was determined to do everything in my power to stay in shape; I would cross train twice a day on the bike and in the pool to keep my cardio up. My hard work ended up paying off that first season and I placed 10th in the State Meet and held a PR of 18:33 which broke my high schools 5K record. I have a strong work ethic and am very self motivated. I feel I am a supportive team player; always encouraging my teammates, and pointing out the positives in them.
I think what sets me apart is the success I had as a first year runner, my potential to improve, and the hard work that I put into my running including: focusing on proper nutrition, cross training, and maintaining a positive attitude even while dealing with an injury.
My academics are also strong, I take honors and AP courses and currently maintain a 3.9 GPA. I am also a member of NHS, Athlete Advisory Council, Principal Advisory Committee and have currently logged over 200 service hours. I am also the founder and president of my high school's Eco-Club.
