Taking deep breaths as I approach to the starting line, setting my blocks up, and kneeling down. As the gun shoots up in the thin air, I explode, running so fast I can’t think about anything except first place. It’s the best feeling in the world!! I love the adrenaline this sport gives me.
I started running track in ninth grade, but I wasn’t motivated about it until my sophomore year. I fell in love with hurdling, because I love how it's not straight running; you have the occasional obstacles you have to get over to finish the race, which keeps the race more interesting and fun.
However, running track has helped me to keep my grades up. I plan out my school work and social life better, when I have a tight schedule and practice everyday plus meets. The more I concentrated on track, the more my grades went up. The harder I worked on the track, the harder I worked in school. Too me, they go hand in hand. My grades have significantly improved from my freshman year to my senior year.
Therefore, I would love continuing doing something I love, track and field. I'm really looking forward to starting a new chapter of my life in college. When I go to college, I want to major in something creative. I've never been a girl who liked to use the basic techniques I learned in school. I like to expand my mind, and do things that are creative that not everyone gets to experience. Majors that spark my interest would be: film, marketing, advertising, and theatre. Furthermore, I am very dedicated to track and field. I love having the team aspect in track. I like how the sport is a mix of being on a team and being individual. You can cheer on your teammates and encourage them to do better but you can still focus on your race by yourself.
I just can't wait to see where this year brings me!
