My hope is to compete as a multi eventer in college. I decided to focus on track and field after retiring from competitive gymnastics in 8th grade. I immediately fell in love with the competition and the team environment. Injuries from gymnastics and cross country virtually wiped out my freshman and sophomore seasons. But I worked hard to get healthy and hit all my junior year goals. Now I am looking forward to my senior year of competition and choosing the best fit for college. However, my value to the team and university I attend will be more than times, heights, distances, and/or academic contributions. My teammates and coaches elected me to serve as captain my sophomore year despite being injured the year before. I was the first sophomore captain on a perennial State Champion high school team. In addition, I received the Jack William Scholarship awarded to one rising junior who demonstrates high achievement on the track, in the classroom, and in the community. These two honors illustrate my core strengths: character, passion and spirit. My goal is to grow on and off the track; to stretch my potential while being an active and contributing member to a great campus community.
