Personal Statement

My collegiate goals include running in college at a competitive level in which I can push myself, but also succeed. I would particularly like to compete on a national level, more then I have in my high school career. Along with running in college, I would like to possibly pursue studying psychology, mixed with some veterinary background. This combination of majors is what I would do in order to possibly go into a field that combines helping people, while still working alongside animals, as in the seeing eye programs with dogs.  I would be a good candidate for a college team for many reasons. I am a very good team player, as well as leader. I am able to step up in a situation where leadership is needed, but I as well know my place among my peers as an equal. I am happy to participate on both areas of team. In fact, the reason that track and cross country have remained to be my favorite sports outside the fact that I adore the thrill of running; it is because of the team aspect, the "family" feel that these sports contain.   My cross country career has been one of my best high school athletic events. Making it to state freshman, sophomore, and junior year, and hopefully my upcoming  senior year as well. I have also earned first team all conference sophomore year, and second team all conference junior year.  I have improved steadily over the years, by setting goals  for myself along my way through the season. This past year I had a dip in my performance due to the discovery of an extra vertebrae in my back. This, however setting me back, has not stopped me. I still continued to compete in state, and Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona. Today, I am undergoing physical therapy, and other treatments which are helping to overcome this newly found asset. I will continue to do what i love, even if it requires a little more work on the side.  My passion, and determination which have lead me through my high school athletic and academic career, extends beyond the trails and track.  I am very proud to say that I do not give up easily, and am a very driven, determined, and strong individual. From school, in which I strive to do the best that I can, to going out of my way to help others far before myself. Although my grades have slipped before, they have not remained in that lower state. To tell you a little more about myself, I thoroughly enjoy helping others. I have been the mediator, counselor, and reliable friend to many for my friends for as long as I can remember. Earning myself  the nicknames "peacemaker" and "master of advice," from my peers. Having a love for helping others, also allows me to get along with the large majority of people. Which lends to my enjoyment of spending times with large numbers of people.  I as well adore the outdoors, spending my summers as a camp counselor in Maine for the past 9 years. Teaching advanced sailing and canoeing skills that I have acquired.
I am looking forward to what I can accomplish in college both academically and athletically. Thank you for your time and consideration. Cat Moss.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
