Jerrie Piacentini '12 Recruiting Profile

I am from a small town in Arkansas.  I am 5'7" tall and wiegh 135 lbs.  I began pole vaulting in the ninth grade.  I was the 5A West Conference Champion in 2011.  I am proud of the fact that I have  qualified for 5A State Championships every year I have vaulted.  I finished n 2nd place both in 2010 and 2011 at state.  As of July 2011, ArkansasTrackStats.net ranked me number 15 in the state of high school pole vaulters.  Making it to the Arkansas All-time list was especially rewarding.  I have proven in both my athletic and academic work ethics to be dedicated, determined, and a hard worker.  Most days, I am the first one on the field and the last one to leave it.  I stay late on some weekdays and come in on weekends even when it isn't mandatory to practice vaulting.  Pole vaulting on the college-level would be the fulfillment of four years' dreams.  Financial assistance is extremely important to where I will finally decide to attend college.  The ideal situation, but not necessarily crucial, would be that a Christian-based university, with plenty of nature and outdoor leisure opportunities, that can offer me a quality education would offer me a solid financial  assistance package to vault for them.  Being within a day's drive of my hometown would be fantastic too, but I would be willing to go further if the financial assistance was better.  My goal is to be an elementary teacher.  I have learning disabilities that have caused me to have to work hard to keep good grades.  I currently have a 3.3 GPA and I have never allowed my learning struggles to defeat me nor discourage me in any way.  Currently, I am in the top 45% of my class.  I work part-time at a small local grocery store and, yet, I still have time for my education, pole vaulting, and social time.  I know that I would be an asset to any track team and could make an immediate impact as well.
