Anjelika Kidd '11 Recruiting Profile

I have been running Cross Country since the summer of 2005. When I first started running, I was no good at all. I have had many experiences with passing out during races and after them, to the point where I don't know how to be unconscious while running anymore. My second year opened up with a remarkable improvement as I went to not making it to State to coming in around the top quarter. I've suffered a few injuries in the past year, probably the cause of my drop in times, but I am on my way to recovery. My most recent injury was a broken foot at the end of June. As of the second week of July, I was back on my feet running. I am a very dedicated runner and strive to accomplish the most I can, though sometimes I fall short of my goals. I tire of people telling me what I can and cannot do and strive to prove them wrong. Throughout my younger years, I had people all around telling me that I wouldn't keep my grades up, that I wouldn't make it into the college I wanted, that I wouldn't be happy with my future. Well, I am currently Valedictorian of my class with a 4.29 grade point average and a 28 on my ACT. I often help my fellow peers in classes by tutoring and guidance. When younger athletes need help, they usually come to me, sometimes before even their parents or our coach. I stay after school with them and mentor them through their practice and try my best to encourage them when everyone else is putting them down. They are the future of my team, and I hope that they will love it as much as I do. My biggest image of my future is having a nice home with various animals in my backyard: bears, wolves, lions, whatever needs help. My goal is to embark in the field of animal rehabilitation. I want to be able to take young animals, whose parents were the victims of awful accidents, and give them a second chance at life.
