Paige Holderfield '11 Recruiting Profile

I was always dead set on being a soccer star and following in Mia Hamm's footsteps, obviously I was wrong. One early morning my mom woke up me up extra early and informed me I'd be attending a summer track and field camp. "You're kidding.." was my sleepy response. Luckily, she wasn't. As I hobbled onto the track, Coach Galle immediately woke me up and had me running. I had never wanted to run, jump, and hurdle with such passion before that day. I fell in love. That year, 7th grade, I transferred to UMS-Wright. I counted down the days until I'd be able to do what I loved (though I had to survive cross country season first...). The day finally came and my 6 year career in Track & Field began. Little did I know, I'd be a Varsity Track athlete and State Champion my seventh grade year. Since then, I've been the first one to practice, and the last one on the track. Being in technical events like hurdles and triple/long jump, spending ample time perfecting my form is necessary. I love bringing the team together, and helping the younger athletes with their events. I wish the best for everyone, but I'm always competitive and have a strong desire to win. Practice or a meet I have to be first. The will to win has definitly paid off. Since seventh grade, I've been a part of 4 state championship teams, All-State in Track for 3 years, All-county for 3 years, Optimist Club runner of the week, and MVP my junior year. I would love to run track at any college, since track has been such an important part of my life. I'm hard-working, dedicated, and coachable.
