Hi, My name is Alexia Petruzziello. I am 17 years old, 5'4.5" and a senior tennis player at North Haven High School in North Haven, CT.
I started playing tennis at age 8 and have loved it ever since. During the summer of second grade I joined our summer tennis club's tennis team where I was the youngest member. I was 8 and the rest of the team was 10 and older. Ever since then I knew tennis was going to be a big part of my life, and it has become just that. I have been on the Paradise team for 10 summers and have always won the tennis ladder for the girls overall age group every year. Last year I was honored with being the recipient of the Jamia O'brien Award for Sportsmanship and Leadership in Tennis. It completed my tenure at Paradise.
I am an all year round tennis player and during off season I participate in USTA Team tennis and USTA Singles and doubles tournaments in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Florida. I also have volunteered in local Adidas tennis camps during the last three summers and just recently became PTR certified as Assistant tennis instructor for 10 & under children. I have started both at doubles and singles throughout high school and this year am looking forward to playing #2 or #1 singles. This year I was also voted Co-Captain for the NHHS tennis and am excited to bring forth a competitive team that will come out in the top three in our conference.
Playing intercollegiate tennis has been one of my dreams since I was a young child and I will work very hard at achieving this goal while maintaining high standards on and off the court. Presently I hold a 3.73 GPA and I continue to strive to better myself both academically and athletically. In college, I am looking forward to play for a competitive College team where I can continue to learn and be an integral part of its success; Making life-long friendships with my team-mates while achieving a great educational experience.
