Personal Statement

I am looking for a college that will challenge me academically as well as athletically. I currently started my senior year at Discovery Canyon Campus (4A) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am interested in pursuing a career in medicine as well as playing collegiate women's tennis.
I was enrolled in summer strength and conditioning with my high school team, and taking private lessons with the Colorado College coaching staff along with being registered for USTA for tournament play. I am a three year varsity letterman, Colorado State Qualifier for #1 Doubles in 2014 and completed my tennis season with a 7-1 (91 wins 31 lost) record for my regular season and recently placed 4th in our 4A regional tournament for #1 Doubles. Along with our team placing 3rd in our regional tournament.
I had a challenging and exciting academic schedule that included Honors Human Body Systems, Chemistry, Psychology, Functional Statistics and Trigonometry (FST) along with Spanish lll and American Sign Language. I am a repeated honors student and recently received my first Academic letter for the fall semester of 2014 and lettered this past spring semester of 2015. I was also chosen to participate in our Canyon Crew leadership program, which helps the incoming freshman with the adaptation to their high school career.
In addition to playing High School tennis I have also participated in our volleyball program for four seasons playing as our starting Varsity Libero the past 2014 season and entering the 2015 season. The 2014 volleyball season was our most successful record in our high school history with a Championship Tournament and placed #3 in our Region. I have been honored in receiving the Most Valuable Player for two consecutive years.
I have recorded over 100 volunteer hours with local charity organizations, Newborn Hope, DCC tennis and volleyball camps and Starz Tennis, which serves under privileged children in Colorado Springs area to learn the basics of tennis and sportsmanship. I am also an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and work part time at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs and finished my instructor certification over the summer of 2015.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
