I began swimming at 5 years old. I love every aspect of being on a swim team - the camaraderie, the exercise, and the competition. During my high school career, I discovered that I loved working with my classmates who have disabilities. I volunteered first semester of my junior year in an adaptive p.e. course, and the second semester took it as a class. At my job in a local swimming pool, I teach physically and mentally disabled children and teens how to swim. My college goal is to take courses to prepare me to become an occupational therapist. With my love of swimming and eventual career- goal training, I hope to someday coach an adaptive swim team. Although I am described as being easy going, in the pool I am anything but - I am extremely hard working and competitive. My times have consistently improved since my freshman year, and have continued to drop significantly at each of my D-1 State High School Swimming Championships. I have helped my 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay to achieve All-State and All-American status for the last 3 years. I feel I will bring that work ethic and goal-oriented attitude to the college team I will swim on.
