Hi, My name is Rachel Resch. My graduating year is in 2016. I have been swimming competitively for the past nine years, and I am definitely interested in continuing my swimming career while I work on my degree. My Dad is a Chiropractor and my Mom is a Physical Therapist who own their own private practice that I have grown up with. I intend to pursue a health related career helping people achieve optimum health.
I feel I have so much more in me in that I haven't swam year round for the past 2 years. Last year I continued to improve while cross training year round. I firmly believe it was due to having the time of my life with a great team surrounded by great coaches. I know I swim my best when I am working hard and having fun. I see myself as an, "energy giver" not an, "energy taker." I am confident I can find a school with my academic interests with a great coach who leads their team to greatness.
In addition to swimming, I've been playing varsity basketball for the past two years on Neenah High School's varsity basketball team. I am a starter this year, as a junior. Neenah High School has a student body of 2,100 and is the second largest in the state.I love the, "team," aspect of playing basketball and feel the skills I have developed can be valuable to a college swimming and diving team. During basketball season, I train individually in the pool and the weight room to keep in swim shape. I start swimming full time in early March. During the summer I train daily for swimming and also participate in 10 hours/week of high school basketball and participate in triathlons.
Academics along with leadership are very important to me. So far in my high school career, 75% of the classes I've taken have been advanced and I have maintained a 3.3 GPA. I love to challenge myself and surround myself with students who like to work hard. Myself and five other students in our student body of 2,100 were hand picked by our assistant principal and athletic director to form a leadership council. This was created early in my junior year and we put on school events that bring together the community and create school spirit and equality.
I would love to have an opportunity to swim in college and contribute. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile and read this!
