Hello, my name is Caitlyn Faulhaber. I have participated in many sports, yet swimming has become the sport I am focused on, and one that I would like to pursue in college. What has helped me become the student athlete I am today is the support and guidance provided by my parents, coaches, and the application of what I have learned from them in both my studies and my sport. I have only been swimming competitively since my freshman year but my work ethic helped me achieve major accomplishments during my junior year; All-State Academic for Swimming, All-District Academic for Swimming, and All-District Female Athlete for Swimming. Although I did not attain the personal time goals I had set for myself, I did persevere through adversity. At the start of the swim season an infection in a lymph node required surgery that significantly affected my ability to train both in the pool and on dry land. But once cleared to get back in the pool I did achieve personal bests in my events, the recognition listed above, and those personal time goals of mine are even lower now and significantly displayed on my bedroom wall. On my team I am a leader, and I lead by example, by walking my talk through my performance, through supporting my teammates, through my academics, and by helping coach and mentor the younger swimmers on the team. I strive to do my best through hard work and engaging in critical review of my performance in order to improve individually knowing that by doing so my team will benefit as well. That is why I believe my goals in the swimming pool are realistic and achievable.
Academically, I am currently number four in my class of 872 students. The same work ethic that has brought me success in the swimming pool has brought me success in the classroom. I have not chosen a major field of study yet, but I have interests in Kinesiology, Nursing, Accounting, and Education.
Outside the classroom and swimming pool, I am and have been involved for many years at Jim's Taekwon-Do Academy in Houston, Texas. I am a second degree black belt, and an Instructor 2nd Dan for the school, where I have helped many students along the way to achieving their goals from one belt level to the next.
If you believe my work ethic, my commitment to continuous improvement, my ability to persevere through adversity, and my leadership skills could benefit your program and assist me in achieving my academic and athletic goals, I would like to speak with you.
