In college, I would like to swim competitively. I enjoy the hard work required for the sport and I put forth my best effort at all times in order to improve my skills. I work very hard to reach personal and team goals, and I would like to be a part of a conference winning team. I like the sportsmanship that develops between the teammates and coaches. I am very committed to, and passionate about my sport, which is shown by my hour and a half commute each way to my club team practice daily. I also pride myself on being kind, honest and helpful and I make sure to always encourage my teammates during practices and meets. I have competed in the North Carolina high school state swim meet for the past two seasons. I placed 4th in the 500 and 200 free my freshman year, and placed 2nd in the 500 free and 4th in the 200 free my sophomore year. This season I placed 1st in the 200 and 500 free, winning a state title in both events.
I work just as diligently in school as I do in the pool. Currently, I have a 4.44 GPA weighted, and a 3.88 GPA unweighted and am ranked 7 out of 182 in my class. Pushing myself academically as much as I push myself in swimming is important to me and I set high standards for myself to always get and keep high grades. I take AP classes and have been in all honors classes since elementary school and have been on the honor roll since then.
Volunteering for my current swim team and in my community is also quite important to me. I help time for all the 8&U meets my club team hosts and I volunteer at my church on Sundays. In college I hope to major in fine arts with possibly a double major in art education. While pursuing my degree I would like to be a contributing member of a strong swim team and I know I would be an asset to the college I will attend.
