Shannon Grill '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at John Marshall High School in Rochester MN, and I have been swimming competitively for over nine years. I am primarily a distance freestyle swimmer, but I do train in all four strokes. Currently, I swim 6-8 times per week, and a typical workout is 8,000 to 10,000 yards per day. In addition to yardage we work on conditioning with "buckets" and sprint racks. Academically, I have worked hard to keep my grades up and I have taken a rigorous course load consisting of AP and Honors courses and I am a member of the National Honor Society. I feel that I have the skills needed to balance academics and the time needed to be a successful swimmer. I am looking for a university where I can compete at meets and continue to improve my skills and my times. In addition to swimming it is very important to me to maintain a high academic level of achievement, complete my undergraduate degree and be in a position to start my career or attend graduate school after graduation.
