Erin Rudd '18 Recruiting Profile

    My athletic career started at age two in gymnastics. By age five, I was competing and training four hours, five days a week. I loved the rigorous workouts, learning new tricks, being challenged personally, but also being part of a tight-knit team. Unfortunately, at age nine, just before my first out of state competition, I found out I was born with two vertebrae fused together in my neck. The doctors said it was too dangerous to continue gymnastics, but encouraged me to continue athletics through swimming. (I have been totally cleared for competitive swimming). 

    I joined our local YMCA swim team right away. They taught me the butterfly on Monday, and I competed it on Saturday and got third place! I was hooked and so happy to find another sport I loved. Two years later the Lake Superior Swim Club started and I have worked with my coach on setting short and long term goals and working hard to achieve them. I've had good success in high school, and I know that with my dedication and determination my times will continue to drop. I look forward to being a strong contributor on a college team.
