Alicia Sobell '16 Recruiting Profile

I have been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old, and I would like to continue this sport throughout my college experience. I am proud to say that I have been on the same team since I started swimming; a successful team that has grown in size over the years. I remember getting my first State cut, then moving up to Zones when I was 14, and this year I was able to make a Sectional cut and attend the meet. I have learned throughout this sport that I work towards my goals, and that I am always there for my teammates. This sport is my passion, my dedication, and it's my goal to become even better than I am at the moment. 
At my high school I have become involved with many leadership opportunities, to prepare me for my future. One of the programs I was involved with was named Link Leader. During this program, I helped the incoming freshman find a way through the building and community that they would be a part of for four years. I believe this would make me an excellent teammate to new members of the swim team. I also had the opportunity to coach a beginning level group, and to teach lessons to younger inexperienced kids, about the basics of swimming. 
Not only am I dedicated to the sport, but to my school work. I work hard for my grades, to be the best student I can possibly be. We have a program at my high school called National Honors Society. You have to be invited to get into the program, which I was, and you have to have a GPA of 3.7 or higher. This program requires you to earn 40 hours of community service hours, and 10 tutoring hours, over the period of two years. I am very happy to be involved with such a program.
