My Name is Madelyn Ogea. I am a student athlete at University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My graduation year is 2017. Going to college has always been my plan, but swimming at the collegiate level has been my personal goal. I love being at the pool with friends that have similar morals and goals, this has also helped me make the right decisions through out high school both in the classroom and the pool. I am swimming for Crawfish Aquatics at the Baton Rouge location. We swim 6 days a week with yardage between 5,000-8,000 yards per practice. We have drylands two days a week and I am also enrolled in a cross fit program Tuesday and Thursday morning before school, in order to gain extra strength. I love being able to push myself at practice, if it is in the pool or in the weight room.
I have also been a member of the varsity swim team at my school since the 6th grade. It has been a great fit for me being on such a supportive and outgoing team. Throughout the years of being on a team it has really showed me how to be a team leader, whether it is cheering a friend on or giving positive encouragement during hard sets. I am confident that I would be a great asset to a team because I love to work hard and I have only been back in the sport for a year. I am fresh and have lots of potential. I come from a family with a solid work ethic. My mom swam at the college level at LSU and my dad played baseball in college at LSU and then went on to play 6 years in the MLB. Not only do I work hard in the pool, I also strive to be the best in the classroom. I have maintained a 3.1 cumulative GPA from freshman to junior year. I work very hard for my grades because I know in the long run it will pay off.
