Personal Statement

I started swimming when I was 2 years old and swam the 25 free in a recreational meet before turning 3.  I have always loved the water. However, when I was 9 my brother/best friend died in a tragic accident. For almost 4 years after I would swim on my own but didn't compete.  It was too hard to attend meets without him. Prior to my 8th grade year I was volunteering at the meet held each year in his name, as I watched his friends compete and witnessed such a strong bond between teammates and how they honored my brother, I knew it was time to train and compete. In 1 year I progressed from age group to seniors and qualified for States my freshman year of high school. I have been on the State Championship team the past three years and was recently selected to be captain of my high school team.

I am dedicated, hardworking and push through adversity. From my loss I understand what's important and have strived to exemplify the highest standards. Even at a young age my brother taught me what you do out of the water is as important as in.

I'm not a whiner and believe in overcoming the obstacles thrown your way. I have many things to offer ie.., strong academics, tenacity, leadership, team spirit, strong work ethic and potential for growth in the pool. I have no doubt I can bring these same qualities to my college team and contribute to the teams success in and out of the water.

My goals in college are to qualify for championship meets and maintain a GPA over a 3.5 which will contribute to my colleges achieving scholastic awards.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
