My name is Meagan Brakob and I will be a member of the women’s soccer recruiting class for 2017. I will be a senior this fall at Oregon High School in Oregon, WI and wish to pursue a soccer career beyond high school. I have played soccer since kindergarten and have been passionate about it ever since. I feel I will be a great asset to a collegiate team for many reasons.
First off, my work ethic and personal drive have made me the student I am today. I currently have a 3.992 GPA and have made the honor roll every semester. I also am a member of the National Honor Society. Not only have I learned excellent time management skills, but this achievement has also taught me that I am able to accomplish my goals even in the face of such adversity as time constraints and outside pressures imposed by soccer. Once in college, I hope to pursue a career in the area of athletic training.
My hard work, persistence and dedication in the classroom have also carried over to the soccer field. I currently play forward/outside midfielder for the 98/99G Rush Wisconsin club team (U19) and have been on the Varsity team for my high school since my freshman year. As a sophomore, I helped my high school team achieve a perfect season (23-0-1) and win the 2015 WIAA Division 2 State Championship. This past year, I was also able to help my high school team become Division 2 State Runner-Ups. My speed, power, strength, and field awareness on the pitch are just some of the attributes that I feel will help me contribute to a collegiate team. Since 2012, I have been nominated for the National Rush Select team each year, and I was a member of the WI ODP State Regional Camp team in 2012 and 2013. I have also participated in the Wisconsin Fire Emerging Talent program as well as US Soccer Training Centers. During the off season, I strive to improve my soccer skills through additional training and futsal, and I also participate in strength and speed training.
Playing soccer in college has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. Once I set my mind on a goal, I expect to achieve it since failure is not an option. As I continue to grow as both a player and a person, I anticipate to reach this goal as well.
