My name is Hayley Romo, I am seventeen years old, and currently a Senior at South Kitsap High School in Washington State. I began playing soccer when I was five years old. It was a typical sign up for the local recreational soccer program, however, soccer has become a major influence in my life. Progressing to the premier level, soccer has taught me to balance academics and athletics, as well as many other valuable skills. I have developed punctuality, responsibility, team-work, leadership, and communication skills that are used on and off the field. In the high school off-season, I stay busy playing varsity level basketball and fast-pitch which also contributes to the development of who I am and have yet to become. I have learned though soccer that I am determined to always finish something I have started, as well as one has to always work to their fullest potential and maintain the mindset that you never know who is watching. My parents have always stressed the importance of academics and I have always strived to perform my best in school. My GPA has always been higher than a 3.8 and I have been in advanced classes since seventh grade, as well. Academics and education will always remain a priority. I feel that soccer has made a significant impact in the classroom because of the characteristics and skills it as provided from the start. Shortly after high school soccer had begun my freshman year, I had to overcome the obstacle of not being afraid to make mistakes and play every game like it's your last; I also had to become more aggressive. Due to these challenges and my competitive nature, I believe I have developed into a dependable well-rounded player that not only perceives soccer as a sport, but as a lifestyle in which I have the ability to constantly improve in. I have always wanted to play soccer at the collegiate level and I believe my drive and dedication to my team has prepared me to achieve my goal of playing college soccer. I would love to play in Division I, II, or III, to step-up to the next level and experience a level of play I have yet to find out what is like. I feel that my passion for the game and skill set I have acquired would be a strong asset to any team. I work my hardest not only for myself, but for my teammates and my coach because I believe that without them I would not be where I am today.
