Madeline Birckhead '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a Junior attending William Monroe High School in Stanardsville, Virginia. I have been playing soccer since I was four, and I have always loved the sport. My regular soccer jersey number is 18 and I am able to play every position but I prefer midfield. I played goal keeper on and off for seven and a half years. I made the JV soccer team for my high school as an 8th grader and then made the Vasity soccer team the following year. During the beginning of varsity season our goal keeper had broken her ankle and I stepped into her position because we had no back up goalies. I played two full games and had shut outs both games, on the third game during warm ups I broke my wrist trying to save a ball so I could not play in that game. After I had broken my wrist and got a cast, I played on the field as midfield and defense. The soccer season of 2013 for William Monroe High School was the best soccer season in our school because we placed third in our district for the first time in out schools history!! I have also played club soccer also, I have played for SOCA (Soccer Organization of Charlottesville and Albemarle) for four years and GFC (Greene Futbol Club) for three years. In GFC we competed in two tournaments and we placed second in the Regional 2000 Cup Labor Day and also in the Richmond Commonwealth Invitational. In college I would like a school that helps me academically and sports wise. I would like to study Criminal Justice and Forensics in college. So I would like the find a school that will help me with those areas.
