Bonnie Ruten '15 Recruiting Profile

I currently play on the girl's varsity team for Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas. I also play for the FWFC 97G Red (D1 Lake Highlands). I have been playing soccer since I was four, and have fallen in love with the game over and over again. I see soccer not only as my own passion, but as a way to help ignite other's passions, too. I volunteer with the local recreational league by coaching children foot skills and goalkeeping skills. 

My main passion is soccer, but I also love to make music and write poetry. I play violin in my school's orchestra, both in the Chamber (the top level for strings at BNHS) and in the Full Symphony Orchestra (which includes full band as well as the string instruments). I write as a hobby, and my life goal is to one day publish a book, or even better, multiple! Recently, I have taken major interest in my physics classes as well and would love to pursue an education in that. Being able to explain mathematically how the world and everything around it is so exciting to me!

Lastly, I am always looking for ways to improve myself. My daily goal is to go to bed a better person than I was when I woke up, and I encourage others to do the same. I think of myself as a leader by example and strive to contribute positively to everything I participate in. Being on a team that has good chemistry is important to me (if the girls don't work well off the field, they're not going to work well on the field), and so I look specifically for that when joining new teams.
