Sarah Laney '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'4" defender from Columbia, SC. I began playing soccer at the age of 5, with my mom as my coach. My sixth grade science teacher told our class "Only 1% of high school athletes play in college." I knew I wanted to be that 1%. I earned a Varsity starting position at the beginning of the year, (being mentioned as a player to watch in the local paper) and started every game my Freshman season. I earned the respect of my coaches and team captain to be looked to for throw ins and goal kicks. As a sophomore, I earned my starting position again, and held it the rest of the season. I'm very self-motivated and driven in everything that I do. My club coaches look to me to lead and motivate my team to be the best that we can. Academics is my main focus. My grades are very important to me, with soccer as a close second. I don't really have a particular school choice. I'm open to all types and sizes of schools. However ,I would like to stay in the East. The majors I am interested in is Exercise Science and Physical Therapy. If I'm the player you're looking for, please let me.
