Personal Statement

Who am I? Fun. Humorous. Silly. Passionate. Loving. Determined. Sometimes stubborn. Family and friendship-oriented.

My goal is to play for a college where my teammates are serious about what they do on the field, but can also have fun while doing it; a family atmosphere where we support one another on and off the field.

I've always been an athletic kid, but it wasn't until my older brother, Lucas, started getting involved in competitive soccer when I was 9 that I found my calling. While I still played on my school's basketball and swim teams through middle school, ever since that time, competitive soccer has been my passion. Through soccer, I have learned how to persevere and become resilient. I was told by some coaches at the beginning of my soccer career that I would never be a good enough player to play on an elite team. I challenged that by putting in the work on my own time and have grown into the successful player that I am today. Soccer has also enhanced my leadership abilities which have served me well in school and which have given me the drive to be the best that I can be on and off the field. I work hard, and if I fail, I work harder the next time. While I don't enjoy failure, I do recognize that it helps me grow as a person and I learn something from each failure I might encounter.

  • 2016 Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit: Developing Winning Learners and Leaders
  • 11/19/16 to 11/19/16
  • Asking student-athletes to be leaders without preparing them for the responsibility is unfair. Often much is expected of our leaders, but seldom do we intentionally teach them the necessary skills in order for them to succeed. The Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit is designed to give female student-athletes with an interest in leadership the same instruction, encouragement, and practice that we give athletes before competition. This summit is recommended for all female student athletes in grades 9-12. Over the course of the day we will celebrate the history of Title IX, enjoy keynote motivational speaker Ann Schatz (a pioneer in the field of sports broadcasting), and collaborate in break out sessions that will include hot button topics like equality in sports. Students will “Explore” what it takes to be a leader, “Connect” with their peers, “Commit” to leadership, and “Create” their own leadership style.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
